In 1998, Maarten van Severen created a chair with a functional design and clear, clean lines, stripped of all superfluous detail. It epitomises the minimalist concept of ‘less is more’ and is surprisingly comfortable. The seat and backrest are made of polyurethane foam, which adapts to the body of person sitting on it. When the sitter leans back, the upper part of the backrest yields slightly, creating a pleasant sensation thanks to the integrated leaf springs. Produced by Vitra, the .03 chair plays on the contrast between its pared-down appearance and the perfect comfort it offers. This chair is suitable for both home and business environments, from the dining room to the office.
