The secondhand chair Lia, designed by Roberto Barbieri and produced by Zanotta, is an iconic chair that combines technological innovation, understated elegance, and lasting comfort. Introduced in the late 1990s, it marks an important milestone in Zanotta’s research into aluminum structures. Its sleek design is based on a remarkable technical breakthrough: each side of the chair is crafted from a single piece of die-cast aluminum alloy, integrating the front legs, rear legs, and backrest. This industrial feat results in a light, fluid, and perfectly balanced silhouette. Inspired by Thonet’s famous Chair No. 14 and its double-curved backrest, Roberto Barbieri designed a welcoming and ergonomic seat that blends naturally into any interior style. Upholstered in fabric, leather, or saddle leather depending on the finish, Lia captivates with its timeless refinement and versatility, making it a benchmark of contemporary Italian design.
