The iconic Pacha armchair swivel base was designed by Pierre Paulin in 1975 and is now reissued by the Gubi house. Pierre Paulin is one of the greatest exponents of French design and has designed some of the most famous armchairs in contemporary design, which are exhibited in the most prestigious museums. The aesthetic of the Pacha armchair by Gubi is inspired by the shape of clouds. Paulin imagined a new form of design, replacing post-war austerity with a new, much more vigorous approach. The Pacha armchair swivel base is therefore a perfect illustration of the mutation of 60s design, moving towards a less rigid, more festive and relaxed aesthetic. Pierre Paulin has succeeded in giving real elegance to the rounded, whimsical shapes ofthe Pacha armchairby Gubi by finding the perfect proportions. The lines of the chair’s stitching add to its elegance. The seat is slightly raised at the base and the seams emphasise the shape. Pierre Paulin was also one of the first to get rid of armchair legs and in doing so establish a new way of life, sitting closer to the ground. The result is a modern and durable armchair that offers comfort and warmth. The Pacha armchair produced by Gubi is a unique model that brings life and character to all interior styles. This model is equipped with a swivel base with automatic return. The Pacha Gubi armchair is also available in a fixed version. This used model of the Pacha armchair retains all its aesthetic and functional qualities, while presenting some brands related to its use. Slight traces of friction and discreet soiling are visible in places on the coating, while the pivoting base shows some signs of wear. These imperfections remain barely visible and are consistent with normal use, without altering the comfort or charm of this iconic piece.
