The Akari Light Sculptures, designed in 1951 by Isamu Noguchi, are a series of hand-crafted lighting fixtures made from traditional washi paper by Japanese artisans. « The magic of paper transforms cold electricity back into the original light – the sun. » (Noguchi). True light sculptures, the Akari floor lamps diffuse a soft and warm light while highlighting the Japanese craftsmanship. This used Akari B33-55DD floor lamp has a very good overall condition. It shows only slight signs of use, such as discreet natural creases in washi paper, which are inherent to its handcrafted production and handling, as well as very slight traces of use on the base. These slight marks do not alter the quality of light diffusion or the iconic aesthetics of this Isamu Noguchi creation.
