Description
Designed by Neri&Hu for Cassina, the Samambu brick floor lamp is an invitation to bring nature into the interior space, not as an imitation but as an evocation, free and poetic. Its thin metal rods that soar into space with an organic lightness take up the symbolism of bamboo in the Eastern tradition, this plant whose spontaneous growth and ability to form harmonious compositions have fascinated Asian cultures for centuries. In its brick shade, the lamppost summons an earthy and solar warmth at once, this dense and luminous color that evokes the facades of Mediterranean cities and the natural pigments of terracotta, imposing itself in an interior with a strong chromatic presence without ever straining the line. At the top of each rod, an opal glass diffuser distils a soft and uniform light that envelops the space without ever dazzling it, creating this subdued and benevolent atmosphere that one seeks in interiors where it is good to linger. As right in a residential living room with warm and carefully chosen materials as in a reception area, a boutique hotel or an office that cultivates the softness of its luminous atmospheres, the brick Samambu transforms a corner of room into an inhabited landscape. A luminous sculpture that recalls, with a quiet grace, that the most beautiful forms are often those that nature has invented before us.
