Reissued by Cassina in a vase version, the CNOSSO by Kazuhide Takahama is one of those pieces that play with the history of architecture and pop culture with equal lightness and intelligence. Originally designed for Simongavina in the 1980s, it is now back in a refined form with an enamelled finish that precisely highlights what the silhouette tells us: a fragment of column topped by a stylized Ionic capital, antique reference passed through the filter of a resolutely contemporary sensitivity. In its chalky white hue, it chooses the path of luminous evidence, this dull and dull whiteness that absorbs light rather than reflects it, giving the piece a soft and sculptural presence at once, close to that of a museum object that we would be invited to touch. A tribute to the original finish of the model, the chalk white reveals with particular clarity the precision of the lines and the discreet sophistication of a shape that is believed simple at first glance and that one discovers infinitely more constructed as one approaches it. Also just placed alone on a console, a shelf or a pedestal that is staged alongside the iridescent black CNews, of which it is the natural counterpart, it punctuates an interior with that touch of design culture that only truly thought out objects can bring.
